I think what you’re saying about the start-up sites is absolutely true, and not just for book sites. I think that across the board, the flipping community is moving toward more established sites.

And of course, I don’t mind at all that you post the link to the Self-Publishers group. I appreciate you doing so.

This move shows the incredible integrity you have. You could have easily continued selling book flips “as is”.

As product owners, it is tough to come to these type of decisions so kudos to you for looking after your customers. I recently shut down one of my babies and it’s tough.

I haven’t looked at flipping my books either lately because it does seem that the “start up” book without sales is hard to flip.

Just like a few years ago it was easy to flip a zero income WordPress blog, the same thing applies to book flips IMO.

Krsnendu, if you chose popular niches your books should sell on Amazon so hang in there. Once you get 2-3 months of sales then look at flipping the book.

The best way to get things going on Amazon is to get reviews for your books. I hope Teresa doesn’t mind but I’m posting a link to my Amazon Self-Publishers group. It’s free and we do book review swaps (although you must provide a PDF of your book so it’s an actual review).

As Tom says, it seems that sites without income are hard to sell now. Guess I’ve got to learn how to drive traffic an make some sales.

I am an inveterate collector and accumulator of Internet marketing materials. Over the years I have bought a lot of junk and a good deal of stuff that has value as well. I suffer (although not unduly) from information overload.

I’m not aware of a lot of book flipping courses, but the need for quality content is something I’ve advocated for quite often. The days of producing crap and expecting to make money from it are very quickly coming to an end. I won’t say they are over completely, because some people are still slipping that stuff through, but folks are wising up. Content creation will have a featured roll in my new version of Book Flips.

Without sales, it is clear that flipping a website and book for a profit is not something that is likely to actually happen.

More so when you look at the state of the economy, if you really want to make money online in the “flipping business” you must be able to provide so much value that the buyer has no choice but to buy, that is how you really flip a book business.
